Frequently Asked Questions

About the Practice

What types of clients do you work with?

I specialize in working with adolescents and adults, particularly individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, and ADHD. I am a Gottman Level 1 Certified Couples Counselor, specializing in working with couples seeking to strengthen their relationship. I also have a strong commitment to serving veterans and military families.

What is your approach to therapy?

My approach to therapy is tailored to each client’s unique needs, combining evidenced-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, with a compassionate and collaborative style.

Where is your office located?

LTS Counseling is located in the heart of downtown Simsbury, on Station Street. We are located in the Welden Hardware Building, with ample parking and access to Hopmeadow Street (Route 10/202) and Ironhorse Boulevard.

Do you offer telehealth?

Yes! I provide telehealth sessions for clients who prefer the flexibility of meeting online.

Scheduling & Sessions

How do I schedule an appointment?

You can schedule an appointment by calling, emailing, or using the online contact tool through our site. Visit the “Contact” page for more details. After a brief phone call with Alexis, where we discuss treatment needs and set up an initial appointment, you will be provided with a link to our billing provider, Therapist Solutions, to begin the registration process in our Electronic Health Record system (EHR). Upon registration with our EHR, you will receive a link to our Patient Portal - “Breeze”.

What should I expect during my first session?

During the first session, we will conduct an intake assessment, during which we will discuss your goals, challenges, and background. It is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and create a plan that works for you.

How long are sessions?

Intake appointments typically last approximately 60 minutes. After this initial appointment, sessions typically last 45 minutes; however some clients prefer shorter sessions (30 minutes) or longer sessions (60 minutes). This can be adjusted based on your wants and needs.

What is your cancellation policy?

I require at least 24 hours notice for cancellations. Late cancellations or missed appointments will be subject to a fee.

Insurance

Do you accept insurance?

At this time, LTS Counseling accepts private pay clients, as well as those insured by Cigna and Aetna (as of 2/21/25). LTS Counseling is actively pursuing credentialing with additional insurance providers, including: Anthem BCBS, United Healthcare, and Tricare. If I am an out-of-network provider for your plan, my billing provider, Therapist Solutions, can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept credit cards, checks, or cash. Payment is due at the time of service.

Confidentiality and Privacy

Is therapy confidential?

YES. Your privacy is a top priority. Information shared in therapy is confidential, except in cases where I am legally obligated to break confidentiality (e.g. safety concerns or court orders).

Will you share my information with anyone?

I will not share your information with anyone without your written consent, except as required by law.
